Good for a Hamburger, Not a Filet
My husband and I enjoy going out once a week for dinner and eagerly anticipated getting a good steak at the Wildwood Steakhouse. My husband had had one bad steak there but we thought it was a fluke. It was not. My husband ordered a medium cooked filet and got a charred, tough, tasteless piece of meat. After his last experience, he did not dare send it back for another try so he ordered a hamburger which was not bad. Unfortunately, I had already finished my meal and the whole incident made him lose his appetite. The manager apologized for the bad steak, offered us free dessert and coffee, and promised us that the next time we dined there he would personally assure us a good steak. He also assured us that we would not have to pay for the bad steak. What a guy. Needless to say, we skipped the dessert and vowed to never make the mistake of going to the Wildwood for a steak.

Always Been My Favorite
Born here, raised here, still here and this is my ultimate favorite place to dine out. As a young adult, I was always given gift certificates to the Wildwood for any occasion that came up, whether it be birthday, Christmas, etc. When I became a mother, it was Mother's Day, plus the rest. All my children knew what to buy their Mom. My first son worked there and was able to purchase gift certificates at any time, so I got more. If anyone new enters my life, and asks what to give me, my answer is always a Wildwood gift certificate. The food is always good. I usually get the Wildwood Sirloin and a Cesar Salad with anchovies. I love their Cesar dressing. The consistency is perfect; it's creamy and great tasting. The anchovies are not falling apart; they are good. The steak is always cooked to perfection for me. I have never had to send it back. The food amount is more than most restaurants and the salads are huge. At the beginning of the meal, the warm bread is just a tease of tastes to follow. They also have an array of fresh fish to choose from. It's a great place, the atmosphere is very nice, the prices are reasonable, and the lounge is big and roomy. The hostess is always happy to see you. I could spend hours just sitting there enjoying my dinner and usually do.

The Best for Years
I'm not from Marlborough, but an ex-roomate of mine from the area turned me on to this place about 15 years ago; and I've been going back ever since. Even a prolonged period away from the mainland US (in Vieques, PR) could not dull my memories of the great meals I'd had at Wildwood. Since I've been back, I have taken my girlfriend, then fiancee, now, bride there and we are never disappointed. The wait is not short, particularly on the weekend, as Wildwood does not take reservations, but it is certainly worth it. The bar is large and comfy, and you can whet your appetite with a well-made drink and a long gaze at the raw oysters, of which you should partake. The dress is upscale casual, though a tie is not out of place any more than golf attire. Once seated, the ambience of Wildwood lets you know that you're in a place that's humming, but not obtrusively. You'll be served worm braed and sweet butter, but take it easy, as the appetizera are good-sized, and the salads are the biggest I've seen anywhere. The stock-in-trade here is the steak (my favorite is the Blackjack sirloin), but there are always surprises on the specials list. The service is always great, especially considering how busy the place gets. In fact, writing this makes me think I haven't been there in a while - I'll be making the drive this weekend.
