this restaurant hands down is the best south of boston it has a great wine list( which is very reasonably priced) great bread basket, the best desserts ever, service that will make you want to return and most importantly, the food is fabulous
my favorite is the veal osso bucco! my husband likes the old standby, he says it is the best chicken parm he has ever had!
very friendly bar atmosphere where we have met lots of great people! would strongly reccomend it!

My wife and I also had a terrible birthday dinner at Vin and Eddie's. We too have been going there forever. Food took an hour and 10 minutes to hit the table. Bad cut of overdone prime rib, unusually bland fra diavlo sauce. Indifferent waitress and an even more indifferent hostess. Instead of a sincere apology, we had to really push to get the bad meal taken off the bill. Just bad service for a place we used to love. Sounds like a change in management to me.

My wife and I have been going to Vin & Eddies since 1967. There are many excellent restaurants on the South Shore and Vin & Eddies is one of them. I'm sorry for your experience, however I felt obliged to respond to your posting "Birthday Nightmare". I hope you have a chance to return. A second chance may be in order. No excuses for bad behavior, but this restaurant is one of our area's TREASURES!!

Birthday Nightmare
We usually go here for each one's birthdays but no more. We had reservations Tuesday, July 26, 2005 for 6 people. We arrived on time and stood in front of the hostess and 2 waitresses for 10 minutes before they said, "I'll be right with you." We were finally seated and waited another 15 min before someone took our drink order (the hostess, who was clearly not happy about doing so to the point it made us uncomfortable). After getting drinks, it was another 1/2 hr. before someone took our appetizer order. Another 20/30 they came back with a few tidbits of bread and told us there were no scallops (one of our appetizers). The hostess came back and explained that they were really busy with a party that was supposed to be 10-12 people instead there were 32. Isn't a restaurant supposed to accomodate? It quickly became all of our problem. Appetizers were good except bruschetta; we could hardly bite it. Food finally ordered and came at 9:20 (different waitress). She was angry at customers at another table because their order had been had messed up. Not their fault. Then my husband made the ultimate misake. He asked for more bread. "Oh my God! Bread," she snapped at him, and said "We are out of bread." He asked her how could they run out of bread on a Tuesday night. She got angry and said "Look, we don't have to give you bread; it is complimentary and a courtesy." (Even though we spent $300.00.) Then she asked him if he was going to let having no bread ruin his whole happy meal. How dare she! We were then askd by the hostess if we needed dessert. We said "No," and said we needed the check. Our stupid mistake was leaving a tip. We left the restaurant finally at 9:55. We will not return. Maybe they were having a bad night but that is not our fault. We are not rude people and did not ask for a lot. We should not have been treated like that. The last time we went we had a great waitress who had a lot of fun with us. This was my birthday and my children came up with the money for this night out. I am not asking for a refund but we will not be back.

Absolutely the best chicken parm and chicken braciolatine. Also agree with the praise of the bread basket from the previous review.

My favorite South Shore Restaurant
My husband, children and I have been dining at Vin and Eddie's for several years. They have absolutely fabulous Italian food. They bread basket is second to none in this area. My favorite in the bread basket is the onion bread, but running a very close second is the bread sticks. My favorite meal there is the Maple Roast Pork. My children love the chicken parm and my husband loves everything else! The food and service are perfect during the week, but during the weekend the restaurant tends to be extremely busy, thus the service is a little slower and the food not always as hot at it should be. We love this restaurant and urge everyone to give it a try! The desserts are to die for!
