I like the restaurant and we used to go there often with a group from work for lunch. The flavors were good but it was always so greasy that I often didn't feel well the rest of the afternoon. There are few good Chinese restaurants in the far east bay and although this one is OK I think it doesn't live up to it's reputation and is over rated.

Unexpected Qualty in the East Bay
So you're Chinese and have relatives over from Vancouver, Toronto, Taipei or HKG, and need a place to take them to lunch or dinner where you won't be embarrassed and look like a country hick? Face it, in the San Francisco Bay area, the food just sucks compared to other places like HKG or Vancouver. Even down in Silicon Valley, some of the so called fancy restaurants charge way too much and the food is only so-so. Sure, the non-Chinese crowd will say the food is great. But do -REAL- Chinese from great cuisine cities like Richmond, British Columbia think this place is great? Well, look no further. You won't be embarrassed with 3 Brothers from China. Two locations in the East Bay. One located just north of Gregory Lane exit off I-680 on Contra Costa Blvd in Pleasant Hill, it's also just minutes from Concord, Martinez, Walnut Creek and Lafayette. And the second in San Ramon, just off 680 and Crow Canyon, it's close to Danville, Alamo, Dublin and Pleasanton. Well, okay, I have a pet peeve which is the darn signage for the Pleasant Hill place is only in Engrish. It took 3 U-turns for this Asian homeboy to finally find the place. But unlike Chinatown, this is the 'burbs and parking is free and unmetered. The interior is modern yet with classic sculpture and wall murals. Eat your heart out PF Chang's Bistro. The lighting and ambience were great. Here the food is 3 times as good, the service less obsequious, and they take reservations for parties and if not a party, well, the wait ain't that bad. And the prices? Pay less. And the service? Well, these guys speak all languages - Mandarin, Cantonese, and English. And they time the dishes right. Ordering the $78 nine course meal with rice and dessert for 6 - 8, we discovered big portions with food fit for a table for 10 or more. The arrival of the dishes occurs in stages like a well choreographed banquet. Fast service, yes. But not like other Chinese sitdown places where they dump all 9 dishes onto an over-crowded, undersized table and try to kick you out for the next set of customers. So be not afraid and choose 3 Brothers from China. For those who are numerically duperstitious, and I know you Chinese are out there, even their phone numbers bode good Karma.

Always Good Food
I love eating at Three Brothers! The food is good and the portions are large. They also have this $6 menu where a lot of their dishes are all $6 each and it comes with free house soup. It's a great deal and the people there are always pleasant.
Recommended: Everything is good
