new shanghai is a more authentic place and not a chain restaurant. i've eaten almost everything on the menu there since i've been working around this area for 6 years. my favorites there include, mushu pork/chicken/beef, potstickers, house fried rice, and the greatest of all "mixed meat pan fried noodles." i will actually drive from my house in fountain valley to eat just the "mixed meat pan fried noodles" in lake forest because they way the cook it is very different from other chinese restaurants. most chinese restaurants either have the noodles soft or super crispy. this place make it semi crunchy on the outside but soft/chewy on the inside. the sauce has a nice flavor to it with meats such as shrimp, beef, chicken, and assorted vegetables.  prices range from approx $5.95-$13.95 higher end for the seafood/shrimp items.

Hidden secret. This place is really good for Italian Home cooked meals. Pizza's have a sesame crust, sauces are fresh, ingredients are fresh. sausages are delightful. $10-$25.

The dim sum here is average tasting. Nothing different from the other places. Spare ribs are bland/ salty, shu mei is ok. Favorite: assortment of drinks pushed around on the cart. no other dim sum place in this area have orange slushes, rau ma, thai ice tea, boba, strawberry slushes, etc.

This restaurant looks better now that they remodeled the place after many years. Typical Viet/Chinese food. Favorite: Rice with cubed steak or com bo luc lac. $7-$15 for most dishes.

One of my favorite places for Dim Sum. Getting the attention from the waiters can be a chore if you're seated on the far ends but the food is good and fresh before 1pm. Dim Sum stops being served at 3. Avoid coming late or you'll get stale shu mai and har gao. the spare ribs here are delicious because they cook it in the perfect amount of black bean sauce and jalapeno. other dim sum places make their spare ribs too salty or too bland.
