I'd been the original Saladang a few times and liked the place. I took a few business guests tonight to the more trendy Saladang next door. Food is below avg-chicken satay is bad (too thick w/ no favor); basil beef is overcooked; pad thai and fish cake are fine. Worst of all is the service- don't expect any Pasadena restaurant with such poor service. The waitress and the bus boys came and took away the plates even before we finished our food. I understand it's a busy night-but you don't limit each sitting to be just one hour. No smile and not attentative. I would have given no more than 10% tips for such lousy service but they already put 15% automatically on the bill. No wonder - they don't have to "earn" the tips by providing quality service.

Very good Thai food in modern setting. Great place to take dates.
