Rol San Rules
We drive from Barrie which is approx. an hour and a half drive just to dine at Rol San. The food is amazing, and service is fast and very friendly. I only wish they delivered here to Barrie. The "Beef Szechuan" is too die for! We always have enough to bring home back to Barrie, 'cuz one night of Rol San is just not enough.

Best Dim Sum in Toronto - The Jewel in the Crown
After just four years of serving Dim Sum, the Rol San has quickly established itself as the Dim Sim jewel in the crown on Spadina if not the downtown. This restaurant has line-ups out the door every Saturday and Sunday but the turnaround time is fast so you won't have to wait more than 10 minutes to get a seat. Dim Sum is served until 4 p.m. The food is excellent quality, better than comparable restaurants such as King's Garden and about half the price. Tables are covered in plastic sheets. After a meal, the waitstaff just wraps up everything on the table in the sheet and hauls it out back. This saves valuable set-up time for the next patron. Don't be discouraged if the front dining area is full. There is a larger room at the back. However, you line up back there at your own risk because it's chaotic. I prefer to stay at the front. You're better to go with 4 - 6 people. Order two dishes off the checklist per person plus a bowl of hot and sour soup and share. I've seen newbies all order the exact same thing. The idea of Dim Sum is to share and have the widest variety possible. You can always order more if this isn't enough. The ambiance is mostly ok but the art work is a little disconnected. Pictures of Chinese pop groups are intermingled with photos of fly fishing equipment and pictures of Lady Di. After 4 p.m. the restaurant serves typical Szechuan and other familiar Chinese Food. I recommend the Szechuan crispy beef and the BBQ Pork in Fried Noodles. The line-ups after 2 a.m. are much longer than the line-ups for Dim Sum on the weekend. The restaurant is open until 5 a.m. and it's possible to get "Chinese tea" after hours. However, don't call it Chinese tea because they won't understand you. Just ask for an Ex. The Rol San sits across the street from the Bright Pearl.
