UP food in SoCal
I'm from Upper Peninsula of Michigan where pasties are are regional favorite. The Pasty Kitchen is right up there but they don't use rutabega.

Lives up to its promise
Their tag line is "A Meal in a Crust". Spend less than you would at a fast food place, but come away satisfied instead of hungry. They sell small and large pasties, chicken, beef, or veggie. I personally cannot eat the large size in one sitting. In case you don't know what a pasty is, it is a meat pie stuffed with all kinds of filling veggies and potatoes. Good hot or cold. Great for a quick satisfying lunch.
Recommended: The menu is small enough that you can try them all.
