Fine Dining in Unlikely Spot
Charlestown's turn from working class to upscale is best represented by Olive's, flagship restaurant of wannabe-Emeril Todd English. The food is excellent, if a bit pricy. It's modern-Mediterranean - traditional classic with a twist. I dined on a paella that included a lobster claw. A mussels appetizer was beautifully seasoned. One final, small nit: loose tea was served in a teapot, but with far too many leaves and nothing to put the infuser in after the steeping finished. The people-watching is superb, if you like to see and be seen by the beautiful people, and there was an exciting energy and noise level. Reservations aren't accepted, so get there early, or be prepared to wait at the crowded bar.
