Very poor value for money
We have been in the area for two years and always remarked how many cars were out in the back of nowhere at La Chene. My wife arranged to take me for my B. Day. To say the least we were both disappointed. The decor was Omaha Holiday Inn breakfast dining room (not evening). The wine list was pretentious. We were given a 2x3 ft green green board menu which had obviously been used as a cat bed since it was so hard to read in the dim (it was not romantic) lighting. The menu is extensive with bad karma dishes like veal curry, and sweet breads and mushrooms.... where do cows come from if consumed so young? My Wife's crab cake appetizer at $10.50 looked like a Jimmy Dean sausage patty of which it was 90 % bread. A crab might have been somewhere in the kitchen while it was prepared. My Steak APoivere(sp) $23.50 was OK. I have had much better at Outback Steakhouse in PDALE. My Wife's MonkFish with Lobster Sauce $23.50 came out with a skin on the sauce (the plate was super hot) but the sauce had congealed. After cutting through the skin she was delighted to find black skin in the monk fish. It looked like it had not been cleaned. Again the lobster was a spectator while it was being cooked because there was no lobster taste. The server was good in asking how things were and she took back the monk fish. My wife liked the green bean so she got a portion of those, which were cold (obviously the very hot plates are used to heat up beans ... wonder if McDonald's has such keen efficiency experts in their home office. If you find yourself on Sierra Highway do not slow down to look. Floor it to get away from this clip joint with 150 dollar bottles of wine!
