Went there twice a few years ago (and haven't been back; read on). First time, I ordered enchiladas in a green chile sauce. Sauce turned out to be Campbell's Cream of Celery soup! Second time, the weather was warm, there was no air conditioning, the fans were ineffective, there were flies inside, and the menu was too Tex-Mex for me. For what it's worth, this restaurant is NOT part of the three-location La Parrilla chain, which is outstanding. Those restaurants are: the original in East L.A. on Cesar Chavez Avenue; the one on Wilshire in the old house where Charlie Chaplin once lived; and the one on Sunset Blvd. in Silver Lake. My favorite is the East L.A. location. Out-of-this-world guacamole and (of course, homemade) tortillas.

Friends like La Parrilla Mexicana, so I might try it again. But, it's hard to think of a good reason when I can get to La Parrilla in East L.A. in about eight minutes and have original, authenitic Mexican food.

Very nice place for breakfasts on Sundays in the late morning because of the live music. Helpful staff. One of the waitresses always takes extra care to ask how we're doing. We've ordered a mix of dishes - huevos a la mexicana; tacos de carne asada; cheese enchiladas - everything was either fine or very good. I'd recommend La Parilla in Alhambra on Valley for Sunday breakfasts more than anything. Good food and good music. Nice way to get yourself ready for the work week ahead.
