If Vegas has restaurant inspectors----IL FORNAIO------ should be at the top their list!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We recently came back from an almost wonderful 5 day vacation in Vegas in September 2007. The night before we left,we had supper at Il Fornaio ( big mistake.....). The setting if you can get a table on the patio has a wonderful view, otherwise the inside tables are too close together and it is a very noisy and busy place. We started our meal with a bruschetta entre. In the meantime, we were brought some nice bread and oil for dipping (don't forget to ask for balsamic vinegar) and our wine as ordered. I ordered a veal dish and my friend ordered the gnocci special with a gorgonzola cream sauce with walnuts. Both were very disappontingly ordinary meals. That was the last we saw of our waiter - there was no grated cheese or fresh pepper offered and service was mediocre to say the least. My friend spent that evening and the next day with a severe case of food poisoning. She was so sick after her meal that we were up all night and the next day. Thank goodness for the Bellagio staff that was so accomodating and allowed us an extended stay in the room until it was time for our flight home. Thanks to Il Fornaio and its staff, our last evening and the next day were ruined!!!!!!! We missed several planned outtings.

Authentic Italian cuisine. While the surroundings may be an outdoor cafe in New York-New York, the food is the quality you would find in Italy. The finest ingredients, down to the fresh bread baked in their own bakery. To add to the atmosphere, our waiter, Marco Galazzo, made the evening and made us feel as if we were on the Via Veneto in Rome.
Recommended: The mixed antipasto for two
