Restaurant - Japanese, Sushi

Hip sushi restaurant in downtown Palo Alto. Creative and traditional sushi served at large sushi bar and at tables. Non-sushi Japanese food available as well. Large sushi bar has cascading waterfall as a backdrop.

Best sushi I've found
Plain and simple, this place has the best sushi I've ever had. The fish (especially the Hamachi) is fresher than anything I've ever seen. Portions are huge, with prices to match. Some of the rolls can take 3 bites to finish. Whether this is good or bad I leave up to you. It does mean that prices aren't as bad as you would think -- a $10 California roll goes a lot further than you would think. The non-sushi dishes, though limited, are also quite good. The chicken salad is great, with a great peanut sauce. For an appetizer, the shrimp dumplings are also very good. These are available in two version, steamed or fried. Stay away from the steamed version, they are bland and salty, while the fried version is excellent. The decor also bears mentioning. Modern decor, huge HUGE spears of bamboo, and a cool waterfall behind the sushi bar all add up to a great night out. On last note -- make sure to try the Sake Cosmopolitan. It sounds strange, but my girl friend swears it's the best Cosmo she's ever had.
Recommended: E.L.T -- the best sushi roll I've ever had.
