I've only been to the restaurant a handful of times but if were to get married I would like to have the party there. The food is the best, the staff that works there are so nice you couldn't ask for anything else. There is a wait at anytime you go but it's because everyone know's that this is the place to be.

This was my first time to this restaurant and i went with my wife for my birthday. While I was waiting for a table the staff was extra nice and I also sat next to Roberto Alomar(former NYMET 2nd baseman).Once we sat at the table the food was prompt and DELICIOUS.The service was outstanding. We ordered the lobster dinner and it was superb. The Mussels in the white wine was fabulous as well. What can I say ,it was everything and more.I would recommend it to anyone who loves to eat quality food AND BE TREATED LIKE A KING.I am looking forward to going again.

I had my daughter Christened this past Sunday. The Service at the church of course was uplifting. We decided to go to Frankie and Johnnies to eat/fellowship instead of having a formal party. The tables were nicely set, the waiter was pleasant and the food was Excellent. Everyone in my party of 20 were very well pleased with not only the great taste but the price and the amount of food that was served. This place really was the icing on the cake to my daughters special day.

YUM YUM GIVE ME SOME!!
Wow! The portions really were huge! I'm a big girl and I love to eat out. This place was perfect for me. For those who complain about the crowd, try going on a week night. I went on a Monday night. The crowd was just right. The service was pleasant and clean bathrooms in NYC! I can't say enough about this place. I'm going back the first chance I get. Frankie and Johnnie are welcome in D.C. anytime.

Old Was Better
ok, so i went on mother's day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! what a big mistake. they were only taking reservations for 6 or more. you would think a table of 4, would be seated before a table of 5!? RIGHT? NO!! A 2 hour wait is what it ended up to be. 50 minutes before the food came out. One thing that was ordered was forgotten. It tasted good, and I loved the prices. We didn't get charged for our soda at the table or the bar. A glass of wine was only $5.00. I am used to paying more in Westchester. The Hostess wasn't very accomodating or friendly.

Unprofessional Service and Horrible Customer Service.
I decided to have my wedding reception at the pine restaurant. The beautiful setting and good food was exactly what I was looking for. I went to put money on the reception room for a second time...and to my surprise "Jerry" the man in charge of the rooms booked another party on the same day and the same time...and the same room!! HOW STUPID CAN U BE!!! I already printed my invitations and flights are already booked, and now they have ruined everything for being irresponsible. I was forced to cancel my reservation and go someplace else. Now I have to reprint the invitations. There was not one feeling of remorse coming from Jerry. As I was leaving the restaurant with tears in my eyes he said, "Hope to see you for dinner." Never again will I step foot into the Pine.

Not what it used to be
This place used to be GREAT! Huge plates of tasty food, pretty good service. But now, it's not worth the time or trouble. The wait for a table is awful. People that come in after you get seated first. We waited 2 hours in their cramped bar area being pushed around by a bunch of Tony Soprano types and their loud wives or girlfriend. Service, once we finally got seated was terrible. The waiter's attitude made you feel like you were wasting his time. The food was tastless!!! Huge portions of tastless food!!! Their tomato sauce was bland, everything was cold and or undercooked. The saddest part is that I have been bragging about how great this place iswas to everybody I know, because it used to be. Now I tell them about "a place that uesd to be great"

Big Portions, But Food Not Quality
I have to admit that the portions are large, but I prefer to have quality food. I would rather have a small serving that taste great than a large serving that's less than so so. Service is not the best. The place is absolutely beautiful, but its missing that warm feeling.

I went there for Father's Day in 2004 and I'll tell you I was surprised. Now remember I used to live in the Bronx and have been going there since 1978. The service for the most part was terrible. The food was not what it was in the good ole days, although the portions were accomodating, and the Atmosphere made feel like I was in a midtown Manhattan nite club. I hate saying this because I used to know most of the old time waiters and waitresses but It just didn't do it for me. I will go back there again, now living in Nassau County, it's only 30 min away, but I will be sure not to go on a Holiday......The major problem is the help. You just don't get the same attention and you don't feel like I did in the 70's and 80's......

Da Best in Da Bronx
Follow a local guy when you want to find a great restuarant. Believe me, there are none that compare to "the Pines". Every walk of life is treated with the same respect (and generous portions) as you would afford your own family. Pay special attention to the intricate details of the new brick-work. You'll never be rushed and you'll never forget how great the food is. Bring happy people. Only a Dud would complain about waiting for perfection!

It was a Great Place.
I know what I'm talking about(I've eaten there for well over 20 years) This was the place to go at one time. But that was the OLD DAYS. They have grown way to big for there shoes. Once a small place with GREAT food and a lot of it the kind of place where Johnnie would sit down with you on a slow night. NOW they still give you more then you can finish but it comes out cold, late if they get right at all. Like I said it USED to be the palce to go

Not good anymore
The Pine restaurant has been remodeled and it looks great...too bad everything else in their has gotten ugly. The service was terrible, food was barely warm and not tasty, the pretty atmosphere felt more like a cafeteria with the crowd of people around, and the waiters seemed too distracted to have any personal feeling. I used the eat there as a child for every major occasion, now the only occasion I would bring someone there is for punishment.

Great Food
Food: THE FOOD WAS GREAT, DIDN'T EXPECT TO ORDER AN APPETIZER AMD GET A LOT, COMPARED TO DINING IN THE CITY. SERVICE: WAS OKAY. VERY PLEASANT, COULD BE A LITTLE MORE UP WITH PACE. AMBIANCE:Ambiance VERY RELAXING, WITH LOW TONED MUSIC. BASIC ITLAIAN DECOR, CLEAN RESTROOMS. I ENJOYED MY MEAL, WOULD RECOMMEND TO A FRIEND.

On the way to the game
Had the best Chickem Parm dinner east of NJ on the way to game 6 of the World Series. Truly was the best part of Saturday. I was told by one of the 4 waiters attending our table that it was now a frequent stop by the Yankee players. Service was excellent ! I will be having dinner there before every Yankee Game next season!

NOT GOING BACK UNLESS I HEAR OF CHANGES
Well finally took the plunge & tried Frankie & Johnnie's Pine Tavern. After hearing about the portions & the exceptional food went with a croud of 15. Made reservations on Mon. went on Sat.keeping in mind what past reviews have said about crowds. True,15 people is sometimes too large a party & long tables do not make for the best socialization. The waiter couldn't have been nicer & accommodating He tried very hard to please, bringing extra very large salad platters & garlic bread, which everyone enjoyed. What happened to him between the salad & ordering, who knows. About 6 or 7 platters of appetizers were ordered, trying to cover a variety of selections. Baked clams were overdone, dry, sauce in mussels was below standard, too thick & heavy. There was some eggplant rollatini that was decent. Raw clams were best ever had. Hearing so much about the very large portions of entrees everyone was cautious about ordering since filling up on bread & salad. Well,an order of bacala went back, done very poorly, steak dishes were acceptable fairly large, parm dishes were same, but when it came to the fish dishes, like filet of sole oreganata & shrimp scampi, the serving were very scant. The shrimp had about 8-10 very small shimp in a large platter which made the sevings look even smaller. Not much to share. The pasta on the side were decent portions, not particularly tasty. All in all the it took 3 hours to get our meals. At best I would rate this restaurant as fair. What happened to the old Pine tavern that used to be?
