I have a cafe and I want to attract more young people into the store. My location is on a major street. Most of my customers are from the nearby office buildings. I was thinking of trying to play some more Pop music but that might distract my existing clients. Ideas?
I would suggest that maybe you have some kind of band maybe on like a Friday or Saturday night that would draw in the younger crowd while not disturbing your business' current routine.
I know I enjoy going to cafes where my friends and I can enjoy ourselves. I think a band would be a great idea, especially on a weekend. This is when most young people go out and would be a perfect opportunity to get some new customers. This may sound cheesy, but have you ever thought of Karaoke? I’m not a singer but I still enjoy making a fool of myself.
Something that I enjoy is Internet Cafes. Now I don't know if this is something that you could do but maybe if you start out small and place just a couple of computers in your restaraunt and online you might attract some younger faces. Just a thought...
The computer is a great idea. I go to cafes all the time to relax and use the computers. I own a computer, but it’s nice to grab some lunch and surf the web. I just do it to get out of the house to be honest with you. I think you would definitely pull in a younger crowd. Great suggestion Hungry4lunch.
Thanks Kelly! I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one that loves going to a good cyber cafe as they're called around here. Are there different names for these places elsewhere in the country? (I'm in Pittsburgh PA USA)
What kind of food do you serve? A good way to attract the younger crowd is with inexpensive appetizers, tv and creative drinks. I wouldn't make any major changes because you don't want to lose your customer base, just expand it.
