One word, coupons. Last month I started to include coupons with all my orders. When a customer has leftovers and ask for a box, instead, my staff packs it and includes a takeout menu with coupons. Sure this cost me a little more in the beginning, but a strange thing started happening. I started to see more and more repeat business. This month my sales doubled.
The paying crowd is the crowd I want, and so far, it's working great. Another tip I heard from a friend is to buy a basket and put some take-out menus outside, you'll be surprise how many people stop and take home the menu!
I agree with you Kurt! Who cares as long as you are attracting the crowd that will pay to eat your food. I am guilty of being a cupon clipper and I really like it when places you wouldn't expect to do cupons does. It will often times get me to choose one place over the other.
I agree, people love thinking they're getting a deal. And when the cash is tight they'll take a place they have a coupon for over another one any day of the week. Leaving menus outside is a good idea too if you can afford the cost, but don't bank on it. My girlfriend and I pick up menus all the time but rarely use them. But even if we dont use them we still think of the places cause that menu sits around right in front of us lol
Thats great,Did you caome with this idea yourself? I can't seem to come up with a good strategy for situations like that, but what I learned from reading your post is that it may cost more but its worth the payout in the end, thanks.
I think that coupons are a great idea for any business. As a mother and budgeter I find myself always searching for the best deals on everything and if I have a coupon that is where I am going!
That is so cool, I am so happy for you, I understand the feeling, and its great to always come up with something to keep your business going, I love using coupons and I am sure alot of people does use them also.
