Asahi, Midori, and Hibachi are all sushi resturants in the area. They sell mochi at asain markets like sea palace and diho.

FUKYO Sushi on Sepulveda just south of Ventura Blvd. on west side of Sepulveda between Dickens & Greenleaf is the best sushi in all of Sherman Oaks, Van Nuys & Encino. The is a Cheers type sushi place where they want to know your name and know you. The people who work there & go there are the warmest, funniest and friendliest people on Earth.

I can't say enough about Octopus Sushi on Ventura in Encino. This is not a production line sushi shop but a crew of caring sushi chefs that when I walk in, they begin to prepare my favorite dishes.

Junes Sushi all you can eat for $20. Its a friendly place and I always sit at the bar. Lots of regulars. Have not been disappointed yet. Its on I believe katella and ?knot or valley view. May be just outside of Anaheim. In the same strip mall with BevMo's and Olive Garden.

I grew up in Japan, Sushi near this area really don't satisfy me. Sushi restaurant ran by real Japanese Sushi chefs in Costa Mesa and Little Tokyo are the best. But they are expensive...so if you are looking for half price sushi, these are some good All You can Eat sushi place.
Jun's Sushi mentioned above is pretty good which is located on Katella and Knot
Joe Sushi in Imperial is new and they are good as well. Located on Beach and La Habra
Another Joe Sushi is in Cypress area which is on Lincoln ave, between Knot and Western. (this Joe Sushi doesn't taste so good any more since last year, cuz Sushi chef changed...rice is warm...and too much rice....)
By the way, when I talk about Sushi I'm talking about real Sushi with Raw fish on top of rice. Not the Rolls like California roll, dragon roll, and etc. These store all serve good Rolls, I say the Joe Sushi in Cypress has good Rolls.
But yea...nothing beats Sushi made by real Japanese Sushi Chef...what's the difference? It's not like most Korean/Latino Ameircan Chef, who just come to the store and get little train and start working without full knowledge of Sushi making...In Japan you have to at least get 3 years of training to start making a good sushi! You can't work as Sushi man until you complete the training...so yea....try some real Sushi in Costa Mesa at Sushi Shibucho (expect about $50 per person) 590 W 19TH ST,COSTA MESA,CA,92627
but i have to warn you...once you taste real sushi, it's hard to go back to those cheap All You Can Eat Sushi...^^;
