This Italian Ristorante just opened in June, 2007, but already is becoming the favorite of "in-the-know" San Francisco food-niks. Located in the historic old bank building at the corner of Columbus & Broadway, the huge windows and high ceiling give you great views as you dine.The Roman owner is keeping true to his roots by not "Americanizing" it at all. As my waiter said, this is how you would eat in Rome today. So throw out those decades-old "red checkered tablecloth" myths of Italian food meaning too much garlic and caesar salad and discover what authentic Italian dining really is. E' Tutto Qua features some creative house made pastas that are amazing. I tried the Spaghetti Neri-Squid ink pasta with mixed seafood...excellent! At lunch time the pizza, thin crusted Roman style with fresh mozzarella, was a winner accompanied by a salad of grapes, arugola & parmesan with a balsamic dressing...yum-yum. They do a great job with grilled meats and fish, like lamb chops, steaks, pork tenderloin, halibut and scallops. On my last visit I ordered Maiale al Barolo - Pork tenderloin topped with crumbled pancetta in a red wine sauce. The meat was tender and moist and the sauce was so good I used the basket of their fresh house-baked bread to wipe up every last drop. My companion ordered Pipette alla Norcina - Elbow pasta with Italian sausage and porcini mushrooms in a cream sauce. Our server was helpful in recommending wines from a very well priced list of both Italian and Californian. Lots of Italian desserts to choose from, but I noticed most people were oooohing and ahhhhing over the tiramisu. Looks like you can go in the afternoon for an Italian gelato or in the morning for a great cappuccino and omelet. As I am Italian, I can tell you the name "E' Tutto Qua" translates to "It's All Here." That is certainly true. This place is friendly, animated and gets quite busy and bustling with noise and fun at night. They have outdoor sidewalk tables for a late afternoon espresso in the sun while you people watch and look over the menu for your dinner. Dress is anywhere from casual to trendy. The staff seem to go out of their way to make you comfy, so just go and enjoy. It won't break the bank as there is nothing over $20 on the menu and we are talking 5 star gourmet dishes. Friday and Saturday nights are pretty crowded between 8pm & 10pm, but it is well worth a short wait. If you don't want to wait at all, go on another day or another time. They are open every day from 10am til long past midnight.
