Great Breakfasts
While lunch and dinner is this place is ok (I had a rather plain chicken-fried steak one night), breakfast here is extra special. Dishes like Jambalaya omlettes and banana bread french toast are awesome and very generous. Even their biscuits and gravy have a New Orleans flair, made spicier than your typical truckstop gravy with andouille sausage. On weekdays they have cheap breakfast specials (2 egg, sausage/bacon, toast/biscuit combo things) The decor is fun, filled with roadside signs and like-items, but without feeling too much like a Bennigan's.
Recommended: Jambalaya omlette, banana bread french toast, biscuits n' gravy.

Best coffee I've ever had
My family and I recently visited some friends in Evanston who graciously treated us to breakfast at the Dixie Kitchen. The food and ambience were terrific, but the best of all was the chicory coffee. Hot, sweet, strong and wonderful. My coffee at home hasn't measured up any morning since! Definitely a pleasurable dining experience and the next time I'm in Evanston, you can bet we'll find our way there again. Laurie B.

good food, nice place, great deal
You don't need a tie but it isn't just a bar n grill either. Nice place to take a date if you don't need to spend a fortune to impress her. Lots of neat stuff hanging on the walls and ceiling. Staff is a pleasure, cooks know what they are doing. Fried green tomatoes, corn bread, sweet tea, all that good Southern cookin'.
