Restaurant - Italian, Fine Dining

An extension of Drago Ristorante, an award-winning restaurant in Santa Monica, this restaurant offers a variety of Italian regional dishes. It's upscale, so dress up. Signature dishes include eggplant timbale with tomato basil sauce, spaghetti with mixed seafood; striped bass with green lentils; roasted rabbit in a sweet and sour sauce and seasonal dishes like pumpkin lasagna with fontina cheese and walnuts and chestnut soup with sautéed duck liver.

I attended a 50th birthday party recently at Celestino's in Pasadena and was very disappointed with both my food and the service. I may have ordered the wrong entree (I had shrimp linguine that contained barely any shrimp) however, my experience was made even worse because the staff was very inattentive. Good service can sometimes compensate for mediocre food, but unfortunately this was not the case. The one server who did come by from time to time repeatedly attempted to be amusing but just came across as weird and slightly annoying. When I pay the kind of prices that Celestino's charges for food and wine I expect to be pleased with both the food and the service. Sadly, this was not the case. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

We went there for my birthday and ordered the "fish special". I specifically asked whether it was fishy and the waiter said no, it's white fish. As soon as our orders came, I can smell the fishy smell before I even took a bite. It was not worth the $25 we had to pay for EACH of the fish dish. I could've done better with the frozen fish from the supermarket. The tiramisu was room temperature. I ran out of lemonade and the waiter didn't even arrive until I was bone dry to offer more drink. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
