Ark delivers what you'd expect from a seashore pub: Uninspired but fresh fish dishes, fried calamari, local bands on weekends, summertime happy hours packed with sun-baked patrons, and insipid nautical decor. This one, however, carries more than 80 different beers and has a separate kids' menu.

As Good as it Gets at the Shore
An excellent Specials menu - everything fresh daily - and not on the menu "because it should be." It's an exceptional blend of quality and cost, with a fine balance of fresh "Jersey Shore" seafood and traditional entrees. The Angels on Horseback appetizer is especially recommended, although not necessarily having the seal of approval of the American Heart Association, as is the New Zealand baby rack of lamb - when available. Service - typical of the entire staff - is always prompt, friendly, efficient and accommodating. It can get quite crowded at the dinner hour, especially during the summer, but always worth the wait. An excellent variety of beer and ale is always available, and joining The Ark's "40-40 Club" (40 domestic and 40 import, with no time limit) is recommended for those who intend to return more frequently to sample The Ark's full seasonal bill of fare.

I've been to the Ark before but not in awhile. Wife grew up staying in this area for the summer. Today was not a good day for us here. Beers were great, as were the steamers. After that, it was all down hill. Rolls were warm but microwaved to that nice tough, polyester texture. Inedible. Salad was a monotonous small flat dish with a lettuce mix I can buy in a bag at any supermarket with three low-grade tasteless cherry tomatoes, and some thick cut cold onion rings (I don't eat thick-cut cold onion rings). Baked potato had a flavor I could only remotely identify that goes along with a potato that has seen it's day (old), and the small (5 or 6 oz?) piece of swordfish was chewy, dry, rubbery, and seemed gristley (like a piece of bad tough steak). Couldn't believe it was really a fresh (rather than previously frozen) piece of fish, as the menu clearly stated. Could have done better at Pathmark fish counter. To top it off, I was placed in a booth where with the late afternoon bright sun, there was an intense reflection through the window from a windshield directly into my eyes. So, I couldn't look at my wife while I ate (luckily it wasn't much or long). I will admit the service was good. I don't know if it was maybe just a bad day in May. I sure do hope so.

Good Time!
I love the Ark! It's a great place to eat and has some great entertainment as well. There is a band that plays there named "Left 2 Right" that is amazing! Great time! 5 stars! Joanne

The Ark - good local pub
This is a small, cozy pub and restaurant. The food is good and the drink specials are great too. It is pretty much just a locals hang out. Great service.
