We Got One Too!
Glad to hear Angelo's is still alive and doing well in NYC. We got lucky down here in FL--we now have an Angelo's of our own. Of course, it's not exactly the same atmosphere and food but it's pretty close. Do miss the original though--nobody does pork chop pizzaiola like them and service is 2nd to none. Don't miss it first time visitors to NY!

Great Food, but Poor Service.
Fantastic food at Angelos, but our service was horrendous - we were basically told that we were taking too much time. I'm sure there is better service at one of the neighboring restaurants.

I was very impressed with the food, felt a little rushed but I eat fast anyway, quaint little place that I will definetly go back for.

Best Service, Unsurpassed Cuisine.
I have been to Angelo’s many times, spending a cumulative total of 7-10K. Although I now live in Midtown instead of Downtown I still take the time to make the pilgrimage every now and then for a lunch at Angelo’s. Each and every time I have always been pleasantly delighted by the staff and most especially by the chief. I give them my highest personal recommendation.

Overrated
As an Italian, I have to say the food was ok, definitely not great! In other words, there are certainly much better restauarnts in Little Italy. The owner was probably one of the rudest people I have ever met. Also, I was told I could make a reservation and I did one week in advance. When I arrived, there was no reservation. The man at the desk (I assume is the owner) was so rude.

Excellent Italian Food, Poor Service: Beware the
I've visited Angelo's of Mulberry Street every time I've visited New York City. In 1997 and 2000 I enjoyed not only the excellent food but also good service. On June 4, 2003 on a visit with my father, we ate at Angelo's. The restaurant was moderately busy. There were numerous open tables but we were led to what was called (I assume jokingly) the "VIP room" which consisted of four small tables in the back corner of the restaurant so close together that I felt like I was eating in a diner or a lunchroom and not in a fine restaurant in Little Italy. Other people seated in that section were displeased when placed there. Not only was the ambience diminished, the server was short tempered, condescending and literally rushed us out the door. He seemed to be displeased when we did'nt order a bottle of wine, but a glass each instead. I have been in less exclusive establishments and treated with a lot more class than I was at Angelo's. Nevertheless the pasta was excellent and I will return on future visits (for the food) but with diminished expectations for service.
Recommended: Any pasta dishes they serve are great. I particularly like the ravioli and the Broccoli Ra'pe.

Spectacular
I went to this restaurant on a first date and it was just the perfect Italian Restaurant. Have been there every week since. The service couldn't be better. Food was magnificent, even better then a home cooked Italian meal. I would recommend this to everyone for Great Italian Food.

THE BEST
This place is amazing, and that's coming from an Italian from NYC who's eaten in many Italian places. And THEY DO allow you to make reservations... but this place is very popular especially on the weekends(fri-sun) and if you plan on eating on those days, make a reservation a day or two in advance.
Recommended: mezza luna ravioli (<--- amazing), fried mozzerella [appetizer]

I am 30 years old and have eaten out almost every day of my life, at very exquisite places. There is one thing though I will not order pasta out because of the disappointment in the sauces, therefore I always look forward to going to Angelo's because they have absolutely the best Gnocci in the world, they have to. It is unbelievable on how good it really is! I also love the Spedini di Mozzarella alla Romana in the special sauce, that surely is one special sauce with all that mozzarella it just melts in your mouth. I just only wished I lived right next door.

Best Gnocci Ever
My husband and I ate at Angelo's and had an excellent evening. They have the absolute best gnocci I have ever had. I don't know what they do to make it so light and pillowy but I would recommend this dish for the pasta lover.

Best Italian food outside of Rome!
I was there about four years ago and it was simply incredible! There were six or eight of us and everyone was trying everyone else's food because we were all raving about how good it was. The wines were great, too. It was a bit tight and crowded, but the overall atmosphere couldn't be beat! We're going back in August 2002. I highly recommend it.

Poor Service.
We have been to Angelo's many times. We never get a reservation because Angelo's has explicitly told us they don't take them. This would explain the wait outside until seated. Last week we had friends in from out of town. We were excited to show them this restaurant. After waiting 45 minutes in the freezing rain of a Manhattan December, we arrrived near the front of the line and were asked how many in our party, we told the maitre'd 10. He asked if we had reservations, we said he had just two weeks prior reitterated that they don't take reservations. He said "sometimes we do, no way we can get you in tonight", and off we were shuffled to another restaurant. While the food at Angelo's is great and the service has been good once seated, this particular incident smacks of insolence. At this time when New York restaurants are supposedly suffering from low turnout, I would have expected better. Hopefully our friends will put out the word to others who will patronize alternate establishments when they come to town, thus ensuring survival of the fittest (or should I customer savvy-est) among the restaurant cutthroats.

Awesome.
From the outside, it doesn't look like much but the food speaks for itself! I have been to NYC hundreds of times and I always eat there! I don't even want to try another place. It is very classy and the food is authentic!

Amazing
The best food I've had in years. The asparagus parmigiana and stuffed pepper were mouth watering (make sure you keep some bread to dip in the sauces) and the filet alla angelo just flaked to the touch of a fork. I'd eat there a 100 times.
