A float sushi is terrific! I went there on Saturday because a friend recommended me to go if I liked a great sushi restaurant. I had to wait a while to be seated at the bar but it was ALL worth it. The cool part of A float sushi was that the sushi was floating on boats. You just pick out whatever you want to eat and... EAT!!! The food was terrific there too. All the sushi was freshly made by the chefs and whenever someone took a plate, a chef would put another delicious plate of sushi right back. Everyone I saw there was having such a good time. I really recommend this restaurant.

Afloat Sushi is the best restaurant around!!! There is boats floating around with sushi on it. Its great! The sushi has a lot of variety and the restaurant is very unique, too. The waitress and waiters are very efficient and the service is great. You can even see the chefs make sushi there! It is located in Old Town, Pasadena and I recommend it to everyone! I think Afloat Sushi is very special.

Wow!!! this is the best sushi I've ever tasted. If you ask me, the sushi at Todai is not as good as a float sushi. This is a good location and good service restauraunt. If you ask the chefs someting, they will make and serve it for you right away. All the sushi on the boats are freshly made. The presentation of the sushi is excellent and tastes the best. It's the best restauraunt ever. I practically go there everyday for lunch.

The sushi's ok, but it's cute how the boats go around in the water.  I do wonder how old some of the sushi is...sometimes I keep seeing the same sushi boats float by over and over again.  The sushi they make for the boats are the more generic and common ones.  You'll need to place an order with the chef or the waitress to get some of the other items on the menu, such as hand rolls.

The wait for the bar during dinner can be long but the lunch wait isn't too bad.  I've been lucky, I usually get a seat next to the chef so I usually grab what they just finished preparing.  Some of the food does tend to look like it's been floating around for a while but overall it's decent.

How long is it on those boats.
This place is always crowded and the kids do indeed love pulling those plates off the boats as they pass by. However I have had some really dry and stale sushi here. I wonder at times, just how long has it been floating on those boats. Also this place is popular as I said and they always seem understaffed. You almost have to get up and stand on top of your chair to flag down a waitress.

Bad news, good news
The bad news is, Afloat sushu is like japanese roulette. Your raw, room temperature fish goes 'round & 'round on little baots-in-a-moat for an unspecified amount of time as you gamble for your meal's freshness based on visual and odorous cues. Good news is, your sushi goes 'round & 'round on boats-in-a-moat. LOOK PEOPLE!!! -this is NOT great sushi, but likely a palletable goofball time (and I DO recommend it for that reason, alone). Want to gorge on shovel-fulls of all-you-can-eat bland sushi? Hit a Todai. Want good-to-great sushi? Stay out of the valleys. Want to have an inexpensive, silly, kitschy sushi experience with only a slim/marginal chance of food poisoning? I recommend THIS highly!

disappointment...change of ownership/chef?
I used to go to afloat at least twice a month. The food was great and the chefs were excellent. However on my most recent two visits there they must changed owners and chefs...because the selections were limited and the type of selection wasn't too appetizing. The food ends up going round and round the table without being eaten. Plus if you asked the chef (very rude and obnoxious) for any requests it's nearly impossible or the results is certainly subpar. Service is still reasonable. They fill your cup with tea or water consistently, and the waiters/waitresses are polite. Too bad since this was once a favorite of mine.

Unbelieveably good
I went there on a friday night and it was pretty full so it took a while to finally get seated but the wait as worth it. The sushi is very good and it's pretty cool and original the way it's served or floated hehe. The one pint of asahi beer goes great with the food too! Just watch out on how many plates you collect. If you eat decently the bill should come out ok, but if u stuff urselves till u feel like whales than u might also pay 100.00+ like the three of us did. Oh, the service, there isn't much of it. They give you your drinks right away and since it's such a large drink they don't really stop by often but it is easy to call a waiter/waitress for help.

My wife and I enjoyed our first visit at Afloat Sushi while strolling in Pasadena's Old Town Shopping along the famed Colorado Blvd. There are many similar sushi set-ups but what set this apart from say, Sushi Mac in L.A.'s Brea-Fairfax, is that they serve more menu items than their counterparts.

Eating sushi can be fun
The best part of eating sushi at Afloat sushi is that the sushi comes to you! The sushi chefs prepare traditional sushi (tamago, salmon, tuna) as well as many original creations. If you want to see what the sushi looks like before ordering or eating it, this is the place!
